One Good Reason - Heart Song, Heart Dance
"Mom, what's going to happen today?" Travis asked. Travis's mother, Gina, looked at him oddly and raised a brow.
"What do you mean, honey?" She asked him as she fixed the mess of fluff Travis had on his head which would keep on going into his eyes. Travis got annoyed when she did this and moved his body away from her fin as protest. Gina smiled and chuckled. Travis then responded. "I heard you talk to daddy about something that as going to happen to me at school." Travis Started. "Am I going to get a treat?" He asked excitedly. Gina laughed once again.
"Well, it is somewhat of a treat." She said. She fixed up Travis's fluff on his head once again. Travis just sighed in frustration and let it happen. She looked at Travis funny, and pondered.
"Why must you have so much fluff?" She said aloud. Travis shrugged. Gina then thought of a way to keep Travis's fluff intact. She grabbed a bit of snow with her fin and rubbed the snow between her fins. The snow melted and turned into wat
Abandoned ChapelThe parish waits now,
the loneliness of corners
crawling outward on walls--
chipped away by the wind,
and held together
by silk spindles;
cobwebs align them like the membranes of memories,
the cut of a jewel in an broken window
against the sun
where beads of rain
gather in a mesh of strands
a new Mosaic
against the backdrop of a cemetery;
My eyes seek out the sermon
in close proximity,
paint no distance
between headstone and cloud;
elegies topple each other
in their climb to heaven
as light trickles
over the shade,
breathes a new glow over snuffed candles.
I feel the weight in these empty rows,
how a breath couldn't cease to be breath
in the midst of prayer.
